Several years ago, songwriter Ed Fry posted an inspiring quote that popped up in John’s facebook news feed, “We’re all just walking each other home”. The idea behind the quote jumped out at John when he saw it and stuck with him, and as with most songwriters he tucked it away in the back of his mind with the thought that it would make a great idea for a song one day. Fast forward to 2018 and John found himself working with singer/songwriter Tonja Rose on co-producing her new solo album. In the process of planning the album, Tonja wanted to write some new songs and called on John and songwriter Mark Narmore for a second writing session between the trio. (Their first writing session together resulted in what would become the title cut for the album.) A lot of writing sessions begin with song ideas being tossed around for a while to see what clicks with everyone and this day was no different. When the quote was thrown out, “we’re just walking each other home” … Mark began to strum a melody on the guitar, and the trio of writers began to throw out lines. A song was born, “Walking Each Other Home”.
Tonja recorded the song on her album as a duet with Benjy Gaither and a lyric video was released to social media. (Watch the video below!)
