When songwriters Jeff Steele and John Mathis Jr. were having an early September phone conversation about all that has transpired in the world in the past year and a half and how Christmas was just around the corner, one of them responded with, “We need Christmas more than ever!”. That was the spark for a new song, “Christmas More Than Ever”. Jeff’s son Brad Steele joined to the two the following week to write the song via Zoom . The Steeles went into the studio in Nashville and recorded the song in late September.
Jeff shared his feelings about the significance of the song, “So many people have been through so much, from a pandemic and a shut-down, to unemployment, COVID-related illness or even the deaths of friends and family. Then there have been the added concerns over social, political and world events. You name it, it’s probably on the long list of things we’ve faced in the last year and a half. We just want people to hear this song and be reminded of what a season like Christmas can do for all of us. It can bring us together … if we let it.”
©StowTown Records made the new Christmas single available to radio outlets in October. “Christmas More Than Ever” was produced by Dove Award- winning, ©GRAMMY-nominated producer Wayne Haun in collaboration with Trey Ivey, and will be available on all digital platforms December 3rd.
